Support QGIS!

Current packages

The current release series are provided to offer users a chance to try out new features as they make their way into the code base. We will not support these releases over a long term and they are aimed more for those who value new features over stability. We use the term 'stability here in the sense of 'not changing a lot' rather than 'not crashing' - in general our current releases are continually improving in terms of reliability and application robustness. The current development version is QGIS 1.4.0 'Enceladus' (find out about the name here) and was released on 10 January 2010. We offer Ready-to-Run software packages (.exe, .dmg, .deb, .rpm) for many platforms listed in the table below. If your OS is missing from the list below, please check again soon - we add new packages as they become available.

Version Platform Package & Comment
Nightly Trunk Builds Windows - OSGeo4W

Download: http://trac.osgeo.org/osgeo4w/, Package qgis-dev in 'Advanced Installation'

This is also a MSVC based build of QGIS. It's build automatically from QGIS trunk each night (1am, MEST) and uploaded into the OSGeo4W repository.

This is not a supported build. At any given time it may not work, or may do bad things to your data. It is provided for early adopters and testers to check if bugs have been resolved and that no new bugs have been introduced. Use as your own risk.

1.4.0 Enceladus Windows - OSGeo4W

Download: http://trac.osgeo.org/osgeo4w/, Package qgis-unstable in 'Advanced Installation'

This is also an MSVC based build of QGIS. All dependencies are supplied via the OSGEO4W installer, including python, gdal (including MrSid and ECW Wavelet compressed raster support) etc. This is most suitable for people who want to be able to update dependencies from the OSGeo4W repository easily. The installer is able to install from internet or just download all needed packages beforehand. In both cases the downloaded files are kept in a local directory for future installations.

Note: This build is an online installer. GRASS 6.4.0svn is available in the 'advanced' section of the installer.

1.4.0 Enceladus Windows - Standalone

Download: http://linfiniti.com/downloads/QGIS-1.4.0-1-No-GrassSetup.exe

This is an MSVC based build of QGIS. All dependencies are supplied in a standalone installer, including python, gdal (including MrSid Wavelet compressed raster support and ECW Wavelet compressed raster support) etc. This is most suitable for people who have slow / no internet connections and who want to be able to share and pass around copies of the installer - the installer can be run offline since it contains everything needed to install QGIS and its dependencies. You can check the integrity of this installer against this checksum.

Note: You may need to install the Microsoft C Runtime Libraries too. If QGIS does not start, get the MSVC libs from here and install them before trying to run QGIS again.

Note this package does not include GRASS support. Use the OSGEO4w installer listed below if you need GRASS support under Windows.

Note this package has passed virus scanning using the BitDefender, AVG and Clamav virus scanners. We suggest you always independently check installers for viruses and malware before installing them.

1.4.0 Enceladus Debian Lenny

Download: http://debian.gfoss.it/

The package is available for i386 and amd64, from this apt-gettable repository:

http://debian.gfoss.it/

The backport includes GDAL 1.6.3 and other required packages. Unfortunately Grass remains at version 6.4.0rc4, compiled against libgdal1-1.5.0. After upgrading the system, you can manually purge some old libraries. This is a quick howto:

apt-get update
apt-get upgrade
apt-get install libgdal1-1.6.0-grass
dpkg --purge libqgis1.3.0
dpkg --purge libgdal1-1.5.0-grass

Probably this will be the last porting of Qgis for Debian Lenny from Gfoss.it, many things are changed upstream and Debian Squeeze is approaching.

This is an MSVC based build of QGIS.

Note this package was updated on 21 September 2009 to resolve issues with gdal access from python plugins.

http://finkproject.org

After you install Fink, you need to enable 'unstable' tree. Edit 'Trees' line in /sw/etc/fink.conf as:

Trees: local/main unstable/main unstable/crypto stable/main stable/crypto

then run
