7th german-speaking QGIS User Meeting in Kassel 2013

On 20th September 2013 the 7th german-speaking QGIS user meeting took place in Kassel. The event was organized by Otto Dassau (QGIS project) and Dr. Claas Leiner (Serviceportal GIS und Geodaten am FB 06 der Uni Kassel) and supported by the german FOSSGIS Association. This time, 80 users, developers and other interested participants joint the meeting to discuss about QGIS. Besides practical reports and individual experiences, workshops were at the center of the event.

Workshops

In the afternoon, three workshops were held with a duration of 3 hours.

  • Workshop 1: Introduction to QGIS 2.0 with focus on new features, Otto Dassau (Geoinformatik Büro Dassau). This workshop is an introduction to the software with a focus on the new features in version 2.0.
  • Workshop 2: SEXTANTE Analysis Framework and Model Builder, Victor Olaya (OpenGeo) - Workshop in English - In this workshop, the SEXTANTE analysis framework and the model builder is presented and explained by means of examples and exercises.
  • Workshop 3: Complex map design and symbolization using the rule-based renderer in QGIS, Dr. Claas Leiner (University of Kassel). In this workshop the possibilities of the rule-based renderer and labeling are presented with practical examples.
