The table below provides source code tarballs of "LTS (Long Term Support)" and "Current" QGIS releases. You can easily divide between LTS and current using the search field on top of the table. If you want to checkout source code directly from our repository with subversion (svn), please refer to the download page. Source code files for current and older QGIS versions as tar.gz can be found here as well.

LTS (Long Term Support) Releases

The source code of our 1.0.x "LTS" release series are part of our effort to provide a stable, unchanging, long term supported environment. Each minor release in our LTS series contains only bug fixes and no new features. The current source code of the latest LTS QGIS release is 1.0.2 "Kore" .

Current Releases

The source code of our current release series are provided to offer users a chance to try out new features as they make their way into the code base. We will not support these releases over a long term and they are aimed more for those who value new features over stability. The source code of the latest "current" QGIS release is 1.4.0 "Mimas".

Subversion Repositories

QGIS source code is also available by anonymous checkout from the SVN (Subversion) repository. This code is current with no lag between the time a developer checks in changes and it is available for checkout. Since this is the live repository, there may be times the code is in an extremely unstable state. The unwritten rule of QGIS development is: "The code in the repository must always compile". Most of the time this is true, however, sometimes things don't quite work out that way. If you are willing to live on the bleeding edge, feel free to use the current code base. You can use the following commands to perform an anonymous checkout from the QGIS Subversion repository. Note we recommend checking out the stable branch (unless you are a developer or really HAVE to have the latest changes and don't mind lots of crashing!).

You must have a subversion client installed prior to checking out the code. See the Subversion website for more information. The Links page contains good selection of SVN clients for various platforms.
